Choirs

Church Choir
The Church Choir was establishment in 1983 with the aim of providing sacred music at the12.15 Mass each Sunday from September to June. In addition the choir performs at certain other occasions during the year, particularly at Christmas and Easter. From time to time we have given public performances, usually in the pre-Christmas period. In recent years we have combined with other parish groups in the holding of a Carol Service. All of these latter activities have been linked to aid for worthy causes.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday nights (8 to 10 p.m.) in the Parish Centre. New members are always welcome in all lines, but especially tenors and basses.

If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact our conductor, Frances Stoker-Phelan or choir committee chairman, John Macken or come along to one of our rehearsals.

Family Choir –Family Mass Sun 11am
The family Music Group developed alongside the Children’s liturgy. The group has 8 musicians and 13 singers and we absolutely love to sing and play together for the glory of God. This is evident as apart from singing each Sunday of the year we sing when needed to enhance many parish celebration.

The group practice each Wednesday, between 8pm and 10pm in the church. We would like to welcome anyone who enjoys the music to come along and join us. There is a place for everyone; singers / musicians old and young. There are no audition so come along and enjoy the singing and music. Anyone is welcome to come and sit beside us and sing on Sunday during Mass you don’t need to attend practice.

The programme is designed to facilitate the active involvement of parents, guardians and the wider parish community in the preparation for First Communion. The Parents and families of those preparing for First Holy Communion are invited to participate in this Mass. A group of parents/guardians meet once a month to plan for the next Sunday of the programme. This programme was first held in 2009/2010.

Ministers of the Word

Ministers of the Word are those Men and Women who read and proclaim the readings at our masses. There is a Rota organised for the weekend masses.

New members are always welcome. Training will be provided. The rota ensures that it is not too demanding. If you are interested, please contact Bernard Hegarty.

Rite of Chirstian Initiation

The R.C.I.A. is a journey of learning through the scriptures for adults seeking to become members of our Catholic Faith.

The transport for this journey is provided by the assistance of two lay cathecists, our two priests and the entire community of Our Lady Mother of the Church Castleknock. This in turn is supervised by our Archbishop Dermot Martin.

There is no time frame for this passage as each individual moves at a varying pace. From the period of Rite of Acceptance to final celebration of the Sacraments takes, “as long as it takes“.

This is an earnest and loving commitment by all concerned. Last Easter Vigil we rejoiced as a parish when two new adults received the Sacraments of Initiation in our packed church. Caroline and Tina arrived at their final destination, Thanks to the Lord
